Charity

Shirley Whitworth

Hi it's your Chapter Charity Shirl the girl here again!. As most of you know, our beloved Director threw down a challenge for me to raise £5K for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance this year- not a mean task! I have had good support from many of you in helping me raise that target and although we are not there yet, I think we are doing really well.

I hope you find my new Charity web page informative- ( thanks again Andy- our brilliant web master for setting it up)- it's just my second update, so I hope you like it. If you have any fund raising ideas, photos or suggestions please feel free to email me on charity@sherwoodchapter.co.uk

Since starting the fundraising off with the late Xmas do- we have held regular raffles- thank you to all of you who have kindly donated prizes every month. Those raffles combined with a treasure hunt, St Patrick's day pin sale, BBQ at the Meadow Covert in May, Poker run in June, Charity stall and bikes at the Kegworth Village Fair, Shop BBQ and raffle,Coast to Coast Ride have all raised a really healthy sum of money to date.( Coast to Coast total raised is yet to be revealed!!!!!

Then I had the idea of Charity wristbands sponsored by our Robin Hood shop. 1,700 black and orange Sherwood Chapter wristbands were made, to sell at £2 each- so every penny raised from these sold will go into the charity fund. I then threw out a challenge of my own to ask us all to take as many wristbands and sell to our friends, fellow bikers, workmates and family which quite a few of you have taken me up on. Many of you have taken this up and a great deal have already been sold by a sturdy core of individuals in the Chapter. I understand a few of you have had the print start to wear off the wristbands - I will replace your band if you ask me next time you see me - I usually carry them with me everywhere.!!

Wristbands are on sale in the shop - Liz is doing a brilliant job and has sold over £400 worth so far! I have arranged for them to be on sale at the Hogs Head, Railway Inn and Denby Lodge. Hopefully the Meadow Covert will be selling them soon too. If you have a local pub or meeting place willing to sell them - especially in Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire. where they could be sold, please email me the details. We still have a great deal left to sell...anybody able to take any amount of them- please come and see me- remember, I have promised a special prize to the person in the Chapter who sells the most!!

I have also received a cheque donation to L&N AA from Ratcliffe Power Station for £300. This was arranged by Sue Hammond who works there. I have already paid it into Jim, the L&N AA rep.

SO TO DATE I PAID £3,479 INTO ANN, OUR TREASURER-plus £300 CHEQUE-SO WE ARE RUNNING AT AROUND £3,779- GREAT! WE ARE DOING WELL BUT STILL A WAY OFF £5 K !

The fund raising event being arranged for August was to be a Charity Mystery Ride Out from the Shop on Saturday 8th August. was was being arranged by Richard at the Shop UNFORTUNATELY THIS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

I am on holiday from Thursday 12th August and was hoping we could still run a raffle at the Meadow Covert meeting that night- so I am appealing for a couple of volunteers who would be willing to run it in my absence for me please!!!!! Either text me on my mobile 07761 818945 or email me on my charity email address, if you can help me out....thanks.

Well, thats all for now- except to thank everyone again for such a brilliant fund raising effort so far, but please all our members out there, please don't leave it to the same people to do it every time!
